Virtual Data Space - A Universal Load Balancing Scheme
نویسنده
چکیده
The Virtual Data Space is a standard C-library which automatically distributes the work-packets generated by parallel applications across the processing nodes. VDS is a universal system ooering loadbalancing-mechanisms for applications which incorporate independent load-items and scheduling algorithms for those which comprise precedence-constraints between their diierent tasks. This paper presents the concepts of VDS and shows some performance results obtained by synthetic benchmark applications.

Stochastic Load Balancing for Virtual Resource Management in Datacenters
Cloud computing offers a cost-effective and elastic computing paradigm that facilitates large scale data storage and analytics. By deploying virtualization technologies in the datacenter, cloud enables efficient resource management and isolation for various big data applications. Since the hotspots (i.e., overloaded machines) can degrade the performance of these applications, virtual machine mi...
متن کاملNew Algorithms for Load Balancing in Peer-to-Peer Systems
Load balancing is a critical issue for the efficient operation of peer-to-peer networks. We give new protocols for several scenarios, whose provable performance guarantees are within a constant factor of optimal. First, we give an improved version of consistent hashing, a scheme used for item to node assignments in the Chord system. In its original form, it required every network node to operat...
متن کاملGuaranteeing Fault-Tolerant Requirement Load Balancing Scheme Based on VM Migration
Virtualization is an important enabling technology for many large data centers and cloud computing environments, and virtual machine (VM) migration plays a key role in the load balancing among the hosts of the data center. However, the existing load balancing schemes based on VM migration have serious influence on the fault-tolerant level of the services in the data center, and thus the reliabi...

Flexible Allocation and Space Management in Storage Systems. (May 2007) Sukwoo Kang, B.S., Seoul National University; M.S., Seoul National University Chair of Advisory Committee: Dr. A. L. Narasimha Reddy In this dissertation, we examine some of the challenges faced by the emerging networked storage systems. We focus on two main issues. Current file systems allocate storage statically at the ti...

This paper presents elastic buffers (EBs), an efficient flow-control scheme that uses the storage already present in pipelined channels in place of explicit input virtual-channel buffers (VCBs). With this approach, the channels themselves act as distributed FIFO buffers under congestion. Without VCBs, and hence virtual channels (VCs), deadlock prevention is achieved by duplicating physical chan...
